Last week, the California Redistricting Commission released their first official round of draft maps.
Disclaimer: These are only drafts! Now the public has a chance to give input, and the commissioners will continue working on the maps. Final maps will be approved by December 27.
Here’s what we do know: In these initial drafts, the district will get quite a bit redder. It’s very possible that Katie runs in a district that was won by Governor Newsom by just a point or two. It could be a true toss-up.
However final lines shake out, Katie will need to introduce herself to thousands of new voters. We’ll need to be proactive—and we need the resources to reach these new voters even earlier than we have in years past.
