Dear Friend --

Today I joined President Biden, Vice President Harris, and mayors from across the country in Washington, D.C. to mark the signing of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal into law. This is a historic achievement for our country, and Long Beach will benefit tremendously from this important investment. We are likely to see hundreds of millions of dollars invested into our community from this package.

I want to thank President Biden and members of Congress for getting this deal across the finish line. Cities, including Long Beach, will be able to use these funds to improve our supply chain, address climate change and environmental justice, reinvest in sustainable transportation projects and create good jobs for our residents.

For our city, this can mean securing funding for major projects like the Shoemaker Bridge replacement and Shoreline Drive realignment that will improve safety, congestion and park equity along the 710 corridor. It also gives us the chance to fund much-needed rail projects at the Port of Long Beach to eliminate backlogs, improve air quality in our neighborhoods and launch historic improvement projects throughout the region that will last for generations.

We're excited to get to work and build a better future for all Americans. This is a huge step forward.

Thank you and Go Long Beach,

Mayor Robert Garcia
