Dear John,
I’m sorry for sending another email today, but I had to share this exciting news with all of you! I just got back from the White House where I joined President Biden and other elected officials for the official signing of the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, spurring urgently needed federal climate action in the U.S.
The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act is a key step to taking ambitious federal climate action in the U.S. It includes significant funding for the necessary clean energy, clean transportation, and environmental justice measures that will help our nation begin to tackle the climate crisis, while spurring long-overdue investments that will create jobs and move people and goods more efficiently around our country. Ceres commends the bipartisan group of lawmakers who crossed the aisle to work together on this significant achievement.
I was honored to attend the signing ceremony for this important legislation—and to represent all of our members, partners and supporters who have worked so hard to get us here.
Throughout this year, Ceres has mobilized major investors and companies to advocate for Congress to include strong climate and environmental justice policies in the infrastructure package, as well as the Build Back Better budget reconciliation package. These efforts have included the Ceres LEAD on Climate lobbying push in May and the America Is All In coalition’s Hill Day in July. Ceres also organized more than 160 companies and investors that signed a letter this month urging Congress to include the strongest possible measures in both the infrastructure and Build Back Better packages.
Of course, the signing of this legislation is just the beginning. Ceres will continue to work with elected leaders on both sides of the aisle to ensure that this bill, as well as the Build Back Better budget reconciliation, are implemented as quickly and effectively as possible. |
Thanks again for all you’ve done to make this work possible.
