DSA-LA Ideological Diversity Forum

(TODAY) Monday, November 15 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

DSA-LA’s Conflict Resolution Team (CRT) is facilitating a forum for all chapter members to share with each other the things that shape their own political ideology and how ideology shapes their work in DSA.

How do you identify your political tendency? How do we work together across tendencies? What should we do when ideological differences lead to conflict and harm? Join members of CRT and comrades across the chapter on Monday, November 15 from 6pm to 8pm for the first in a series of dialogues we are planning about the health of our organizing culture.

The forum will be conducted in English. ASL will be provided upon request.

Mutual Aid Book Club: Capitalist Realism Part 1

Image

Tuesday, November 16 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

The Mutual Aid Book Club is taking on the brain worms that are affecting us all with Mark Fisher’s Capitalist Realism. This is the first of two parts, in which we’ll be reading Chapters 1 to 5 of the work. Come and try your best to un-learn the boundaries placed on us by the society all around us, to learn to dream again of a brighter tomorrow. Reading the work isn’t required to attend for discussion, but those who need access to the work for free can find it at https://libcom.org/files/[Mark_Fisher]_Capitalist_Realism_Is_There_no_Alte(BookZZ.org).pdf

Please RSVP to this event to get connection information.

The Mutual Aid Book Club meets on the first and third Tuesday of every month.

The Immigration Justice Committee’s November Meeting!

Tuesday, November 16 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Brrrrrr, it’s cold out there! Oh, I’m not talking about the weather. I’m talking about the Democrats’ electoral chances, as they continue to refuse to pass policies overwhelmingly popular with majorities of Americans. And for our purposes, continue to uphold many, MANY vicious Trump-era immigration policies. As there is no major party that channels our interests, the interests of the American working class and the interests of immigrant communities from here to Long Island, I suppose we’re gonna have to pick up the slack!

And if that interests you, why not come to our monthly meeting, which is going to be held this month ONLINE on Tuesday, November 16th at 7pm! We’ll discuss taking part in DSA-endorsed (and DSA member) Hugo Soto-Martinez’s city council campaign against Mitch O’Farrell, as well as participating in local campaigns such as the LA Justice Fund. Hope to see you there!
