Our field team is already expanding their organizing program earlier than ever before, but after Attorney General Ellison’s announcement and what happened in Virginia two weeks ago, they’re ramping up on an even more accelerated timeline.

Attorney General Ellison’s race against right-wing extremist Doug Wardlow was the closest statewide race in Minnesota in 2018. If you don’t remember Wardlow, he is a right-wing extremist who dedicated his career to professional discrimination working as a lawyer for the Alliance Defending Freedom, an organization the Southern Poverty Law Center called an anti-LGBTQ “hate group.”

Wardlow is running a rematch campaign against Keith in 2022, and as bad as he was in 2018, he’s only gotten worse. Today, Wardlow is working as legal counsel to Mike “The MyPillow Guy” Lindell as he pushes Donald Trump’s Big Lie and other unhinged conspiracy theories.

No Attorney General in the country has fought harder to help people afford their lives and live with dignity than Keith. We cannot risk giving an inch of space to a worst-case scenario disaster like Wardlow, who would do the exact opposite and use his power to revive Donald Trump’s hateful agenda, go to bat for corporate special interests, and attack our most vulnerable communities.
