Bevel down/ Bevel up graphic: THE BEVEL IS THE SLANTED EDGE AT THE POINT OF THE SYRINGE Place the syringe in the cooker BEVEL DOWN so you don’t barb your point. Position the syringe BEVEL UP when you inject for more control. This makes it easier to hit your vein and delivers the drugs to your system more efficiently, making for a more pleasurable experience. It also minimizes scar tissue.. Splitting Bags Graphic: • If you are sharing a bag, try to split it before prepping your shot. • If that’s not possible, try to use sterile waters, cookers, and cottons to prep and a sterile syringe for each person pulling from the cooker. • We know that this can be hard to do, which is why we say “try.” • Splitting drugs and sharing bags safely is crucial because HIV and hep C can be transmitted through works.
