The heart and soul of my public service is staying rooted in my community. Regardless of what’s happening in Congress, we can change people’s lives immediately on the ground by supporting constituents with what they need to thrive.
Here are some examples of how we’ve made government work for the people lately:

A resident was finally awarded his SSA disability back pay: a total of $65,630! Our team teared up: This is why we do the work. He is fighting cancer and struggling so much, and this support is life-changing for him during this difficult time.

We’ve reached out to tens of thousands of residents to help them with the process of securing and appealing for FEMA disaster relief, after devastating flooding has ravaged people’s homes and businesses. We just got notification that one of the members of our community was approved to get $4,063 for roof repairs!

A resident has been waiting on his 2019 & 2020 tax return, and we finally got it for him. He will receive a refund of $15,217.

A disabled resident's income tax refund was being garnished for past debt from 1987. We connected the resident to the right person at the state level, and all $5,000 was forgiven. This has changed his life.
Through our four Neighborhood Service Centers, we’re making sure that all of our residents have access to government services, because many of us can’t wait for Congress to pass a bill in order to support our families.
