We haven’t emailed in a couple of weeks, because A Voice for Choice Advocacy has been working hard on a number of projects, including our 2020-2025 strategic plan, but we wanted to give you a quick update on some important matters:
· Revised Medical Exemption privacy objection of disclosure form
· The Doctor witch hunt
· Vaxxed II – November 6th
· Volunteer for AVFCA or become an Advisory Group Donor
More details on all these below…
Revised Medical Exemption privacy objection of disclosure form
In 2016, A Voice for Choice Advocacy published an Objection to Disclosure of Student xxxxxxrmation and Records document, which many parents have filed with their Medical Exemptions to deter schools and school districts from sharing their students medical records. It has become clearer and clearer that medical exemptions have been extensively shared with the California Local Health Officers, with the California Department of Public Health, the California Medical Board and with news outlets such as the Voice of San Diego, the LA Times and the Mercury News. While most of these releases have followed FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) and have redacted the personal xxxxxxrmation of the child, they have not removed the doctors name and in some instances left in identifying xxxxxxrmation when citing the “reason for medical exemption”. Leigh Dundas, from Advocates for Physician’s Rights, put together a revised Objection letter (attached) which is much more detailed and outlines the various parts of state and federal law which prohibit the sharing of this xxxxxxrmation. We recommend you complete the document and ask for it to be filed with your child’s medical exemption. If you have already filed the existing one, we advise you read this one and decide if it makes sense for your situation to add this one. Please note: neither of these documents are 100% failsafe. For example, if there is a court subpoena or an audit due to an emergency, the schools may still share the records. Also we have heard of a couple of schools who have rejected the document saying that they will not accept it. If this happens to you, please contact us immediately.
Doctors who have written Medical Exemptions continue to be witch hunted
There are now over 70 doctors being investigated by the CA Medical Board due to writing medical exemptions. Three doctors have been accused (Dr Kenneth Stoller, Dr Tara Zandvliet and Dr Bob Sears) and now have to go through the process of pleading their cases. Unusual for medical complaints, these three doctors were accused based on complaints that were filed, not by the patient’s parents, but by a third party, likely a school nurse, competing doctor, or local health officer. The Voice of San Diego released a list of doctors that had written medical exemptions in the San Diego Unified School District (SDUSD) in March. A third party filed complaints on most of the doctors listed, which caused the CA Medical Board to file a subpoena for all these student’s medical exemptions. Thankfully, a motion to quash was filed and SDUSD has agreed not to release the records until the judge rules on the case in March, 2020. The passing of SB276/714 codified what has been going on for the past 4 years, since AVFCA exposed the Medical Exemption Pilot Program, which is a steady witch hunt to bring down doctors who are writing medical exemptions using the latest research, including family history and genetics, rather than “standard of care”. In response to this, Advocates for Physician’s Rights partnered with A Voice for Choice Advocacy to send a legal based letter to all schools and school districts letting them know the law with respect to the disclosure of medical exemption records (similar to the objection attached).
Vaxxed II – Released nationwide November 6th
Vaxxed ll: The People's Truth will be screened nationwide through Gathr on November 6th, 2019. There have to be a minimum number of tickets purchased to ensure the movie plays. So fine the theater near you (https://www.vaxxed2.com/tickets) and buy your tickets now. Be sure you bring a friend or family member, especially if they are unaware or on the fence about the vaccine issue.
I have gotten a sneak preview of the move and it is incredibly powerful. The film depicts families' stories sharing their personal devastation with vaccine injuries whose voices have been silenced up till now. This will be the film to change public, medical and political awareness on vaccine injury and the need for freedom of choice. Their voices will be silenced no more. www.Vaxxed2.com
Volunteering for AVFCA or becoming a lead Donor
A Voice for Choice Advocacy advocates for people’s rights to be fully xxxxxxrmed about the composition, quality, and short- and long-term health effects of all products that go into people’s bodies, such as food, water, air, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics. While we often get pigeon-holed in the vaccine issue, we have projects and support other organization’s projects or legislation that reaches much further. In the past few years, outside of the vaccine rights issue, we have fought for the bioremediation of toxic school land, put on the LiveAware Expo, financially supported birth centers who educate underprivileged families on birthing choices, created the Glyphosate Free Schools project, and much more. We are in the process of putting together our strategic plan for the next five years, and would love you to be involved...either through volunteering or becoming a part of our Donor Advisory Group.
Volunteers
We are looking for 20+ volunteers who:
· Will commit to 2.5 hours each week – where and when is up to the volunteer, but the same time each week is preferable
· Have a computer, access to google drive and know how to use google docs and sheets and/or word/excel
· Are excited to help with whatever is needed that will move the organization forward (yes some of the projects are boring but vital!). We promise not to waste your time!
· Are willing to work with other reputable organizations who we partner with.
· Will sign a Non-Disclosure agreement, agreeing to confidentiality of what is worked on
Please email me [email protected] to become a volunteer.
Donor Advisory Group
A Voice for Choice Advocacy has amazing donors from those who give $1 when they can, to those who give significantly more. Every one of you is important in moving our mission forward. We cannot do it without you. Thank you!
We have lofty goals for 2020-2025, including the introduction of various legislation, PR-Media and educational programs. In order to implement these we need your support. Become part of the AVFCA Donor Advisory Group and gain a higher awareness and involvement in our strategy, lobbying and legislative meetings by pledging $5,000 or more a year for the next 5 years to A Voice for Choice Advocacy. We will be setting up in-person meetings to meet with Donor Advisory Group members go through our 5 year plan. If you or someone you know are interested in becoming part of the AVFCA Donor Advisory Group, please email me at [email protected].
Thanks and have a great rest of your week!
