How to share your SMI story and be the change you want to see in the world Make Them Hear You Hello John, As we approach the end of the year, Treatment Advocacy Center will be sharing personal stories from our staff and community activists that highlight the importance of storytelling in our advocacy work. Throughout 2021, we have fought to keep severe mental illness in the spotlight, educate communities and make voices like yours heard. Today, we'd like to share with you a Personally Speaking blog written earlier this year by Eric Smith, a community advocate and current Treatment Advocacy Center intern. Eric has long believed that sharing his journey through severe mental illness (SMI) is an effective way to shape SMI policy and practice across the country, and we agree. In his piece, he offers his best tips and suggestions to help other advocates harness the power of their stories to effect change. You can read Eric's blog on our website. "Sharing your story of overcoming adversity has the potential to move others and provoke the changes you want to see in society," Eric writes. We hope that for you, raising up voices like Eric's is just as important as it is for us. To support our mission, make a donation here. Please give to Treatment Advocacy Center today. Thanks!
