Hi John,
Tomorrow, our sister organization the American Humanist Association will be hosting the global launch of the annual Freedom of Thought Report, which tracks the rights and treatment of atheists and humanists across the world.
But you and I already know the extreme threats we’re facing right here in the United States from the far-right’s weaponization of religion.
Since White Christian Nationalists stormed Capitol Hill, they’ve been mobilizing against school boards, against vaccine mandates, and against voting rights laws. Their zeal was on full display less than two weeks ago when Christian Nationalist-backed Republicans swept statewide seats in Virginia.
With less than one year before the 2022 midterm elections, we must do more to counter this threat from an energized and dangerous right-wing base of religious zealots.
That’s why today, we’re launching a 48-hours campaign to fuel our work to elect atheists and humanists and to defend science, reason, and the separation of church and state.
Will you be one of the 100 new donors we need by MIDNIGHT tomorrow to build a safer, saner America? Your gift will help the Center for Freethought Equality counter the growing right-wing White Christian Nationalist threat to our democracy and our safety. Our work relies on the generosity of individuals like you. [[link removed]]

As the political and advocacy arm of the American Humanist Association, the Center for Freethought Equality fights back against the tyrannical agenda set by the religious right.
Your gift today will support these efforts by:
- Working to elect leaders in government who will champion humanist and secular values;
- Fighting back against all efforts that misuse religion to restrict the rights of women, LGBTQ+ people, religious minorities, and the nonreligious;
- Tracking new threats to our rights, mobilizing people to speak up, and holding Members of Congress accountable for their actions;
- Influencing policy and legislation through high-level lobbying with key decision-makers;
These efforts are working. Even as we face new threats from a tyrannical religious right, there are reasons to hope. Some of our endorsed humanist and agnostic candidates were elected this year, including Jalen McKee-Rodriguez, who won a seat on the San Antonio (Texas) City Council, Audra Killingsworth, who won re-election to the Apex (North Carolina) Town Council, and Andrew Zwicker, who flipped a red New Jersey State Senate seat (District 16).
We know the menace we face cannot be underestimated. The January 6 insurrection and the results from these latest elections underscore their determination to advance an anti-democratic, bigoted, anti-science agenda.
Please donate today, so that we can respond to their dangerous crusade with unflinching resolve, to defend the separation of church and state, and protect the rights of all people. [[link removed]]
With gratitude for all you do.
