Team,

USCIS Director Cuccinelli just told me, under oath, that he is the one who made the decision to put critically ill immigrant children at risk of deportation.

We are one step closer to justice for these families, but there are still many questions to be answered. Cuccinelli refused to answer questions about the role of other Trump Administration officials - including Stephen Miller - in the cruel and inhumane decision to roll back protections for immigrants receiving life-saving medical care in the United States.

Director Cuccinelli’s testimony is further confirmation of the Trump administration’s xenophobic and racist policy agenda. The threats to our immigrant neighbors from this Administration, ICE, and USCIS are not abstract - they are impacting the lives of thousands of residents in the MA-07 and millions of people across the country every day.

To fight back against the Administration’s cruelty and make progress on a more just and fair immigration policy, I just co-sponsored the New Deal for New Americans Act, which presents a comprehensive vision for welcoming refugees and immigrants and helping them to settle in community.

We have to reject the status quo and work towards a more humane and compassionate immigration system.

I am going to keep organizing and legislating in partnership with immigrant communities to fight this Administration’s cruel, draconian policies, and make sure that the United States offers a clear and compassionate pathway to citizenship for every immigrant.

Thank you for being with me in this fight. Together we will continue to advocate for progress.

In Solidarity,

Rep. Ayanna Pressley
