Team,

It's no secret. This year has been devastating for abortion access in
the United States.

We've seen state lawmakers pass extreme ban after extreme ban,
escalating their efforts to legislate abortion out of reach entirely.
On December 1, their coordinated attacks on abortion access will reach
the U.S. Supreme Court once again in our case challenging a
Mississippi law that bans abortion after just 15 weeks of pregnancy.

Our clients rely on the legal expertise of the Center now more
than ever before. And with your partnership and support, this year we
filed six new cases in states across the country to fight back against
these despicable attacks.

We've held strong in our work to defend reproductive rights and
abortion access for all, but we must be prepared for whatever new
challenges we may face next.

2021 has been unprecedented. In response to these increasing attacks,
we took action. Here's how we fought back:

* South Carolina passed the first abortion ban of the year in
February, banning abortion after just six weeks of pregnancy.
The Center and our partners took swift action, filing an
emergency lawsuit the same day the ban was signed into law.
Within 24 hours, a federal district court temporarily blocked
the law from going into effect.

* In July, Whole Woman's Health and a broad coalition of abortion
providers and advocates filed a lawsuit to block S.B. 8, Texas's
ban on abortion around six weeks of pregnancy. Brought by the
Center and our partners, this case was heard by the U.S. Supreme
Court on November 1 on an expedited schedule.

* We filed a lawsuit challenging two Arizona abortion restrictions
with our partners in August. One of these restrictions would ban
abortion if there is any indication that the patient's reason
for seeking this care is a fetal diagnosis-which has been
blocked by a federal court while litigation continues; the other
would grant "personhood" rights to fetuses, embryos,
and fertilized eggs in a manner that would criminalize essential
medical care for pregnant people.

* And in September, along with our partners, we filed a challenge
to five unconstitutional Oklahoma abortion restrictions passed
by lawmakers earlier this year. These laws would end abortion
access in Oklahoma, forcing patients to travel great distances
and cross state lines to get essential health care. All five
restrictions have been blocked while we continue working to
ensure they're struck down for good.

We have more than 30 active cases in the U.S. alone, but anti-abortion
lawmakers across the country have passed more than 500 restrictive
laws in the last decade-and they show no signs of slowing down.

Politicians should not be meddling in our private health
decisions. We must be ready.
