Friend -- The other day, A.G. Holder told CNN's Wolf Blitzer that "At this point, I'm very worried about our democracy. We have not seen [these kinds of] attacks on the system, our democratic system, probably ever in our nation."

He was talking about the GOP's comprehensive assault on fair elections. That includes gerrymandering. It includes voter suppression. It also includes things like this:

"Republicans want more eyes on election workers. Experts worry about their intent.
The push for more poll watchers is a clear outgrowth of the lies and disinformation spread by former President Donald Trump and his allies that the 2020 election was stolen from him."

Courts have found that certain poll watchers intimidate people of color and work to exclude them from voting. But Republicans in states like Texas are empowering partisan poll watchers, and that's on top of the 33 laws they've passed in 19 states this year to restrict voting access.

It's clear that we have to fight back in a comprehensive way, which includes taking on gerrymandering AND fighting for federal voting rights legislation which can help mitigate the damage done by anti-democratic tactics like intimidation at the polls and Trump’s big lie. It won't be easy. But we believe in the American people -- we believe in you, friend.
