It was GREAT to be at home this week and not in Tallahassee! Still, the schedule was jam-packed and to pour gas on the fire (*literally, keep reading to the end), my family was in town and I was playing double-duty managing my tutoring business as my manager was out for a well-earned vacation.
The highlight of the week had to be two school visits I did to talk with 7th graders about civics, the government, and Veterans Day. Both at Navigator Academy and Franklin Boys Prep, I had an absolute blast and I hope the kids got as much from me as I did from them.
Also, it was also a huge honor to present the Tampa Rotary Club a proclamation from the Florida House at their Flags for Hillsborough's Heroes event on Veterans Day. As the Vice-Chairman of our bipartisan Veterans Caucus I'm proud of the 23 Veteran-friendly bills sponsored so far this session and I'm excited to help get them across the finish line.
And because the week wasn't hectic enough, I flew down to Miami and then onto Orlando for fundraisers to help keep the momentum of our campaign moving! If you'd like to help support my re-election, here's a quick link.
If you would like to also help, I would REALLY appreciate your support!
It's always a good opportunity to chat with the local news about topics that matter. ABC Action News is doing a multi-part story on the crisis inside our state prison system and as a member of every oversight committee and a vocal supporter of fixing the systemic issues I offered my take on the story.
Finally, I'm about to hit the road to head back to Tallahassee for the Special Legislative session to promote Governor DeSantis' presidential primary with vaccine skepticism and misinformation. It's going to be a nauseating week but we must fight this nonsense nonetheless.
Oh, about that fire... Here's Dad:
Thanks again for tuning in and paying attention. I'll keep you posted on the latest from Tallahassee's Special Session that starts tomorrow.
