But running an outsider campaign to elect a candidate like Morgan isn’t easy, and being grassroots-funded means we rely on folks like you for every cost we have.
Last week, Morgan visited striking Teamsters in Toledo to get a full download on the issues they were facing — and on our way back, we got a flat tire.
John, costs like gas, fixing flat tires, and organizing meet and greets across the state of Ohio really start to add up. Without more support from our grassroots donors, we’d have to scale back our efforts to run a big, statewide campaign.
There is a narrative out there that someone like Morgan can’t mobilize a multiracial working-class coalition. That’s mostly coming from the mainstream media and political elites – and let us tell you, they’re flat-out wrong.
Morgan knows through lived experience that uniting people behind an issue is way more important than what she looks like or where she comes from. That’s why our campaign is first and foremost centered around getting political and economic power back on the side of working families.
We can do that because we don’t spend our time cozying up to corporate PACs to cover our campaign costs. We’re funded by grassroots supporters giving whatever they can to a campaign they believe in, and that money goes right back toward getting around Ohio and mobilizing our supporters, no matter the obstacles (or flat tires!) in our way.
