John,
This is a long, but important email about how Democrats' infrastructure deal will be a huge boon for the Central Valley. Please read it, then if you can, chip in $3 to defeat my opponent Kevin McCarthy who tried to block it.
The
Bipartisan Infrastructure Framework (BIF) invests $1.2 trillion into the country's roads, bridges, mass transit, and more. Rural communities in California stand to benefit at ton -- with new roads, waterways and wildfire prevention measures.
Of course, my opponent Kevin McCarthy voted against this deal. Not only that, he’s punishing the few Republicans who voted for it. McCarthy is clearly more interested in backing Trump and the “Conspiracy Caucus” who he needs to win the Speakership.
While he's playing party politics -- farmers and their advocates in our community are calling this a critical investment in rural infrastructure.
My family used to live on an apple orchard, and my husband's still in the agricultural business -- so we hear from farmers all the time about their challenges. Farming is hard work, and more and more families leave farming because the day-to-day rigors are made worse by the lack of support from people like McCarthy.
It's hard to hear these stories and not feel compelled to do something. It's one of the reasons I wanted to run for office. It's shameful that McCarthy hears from farmers, ignores them, and then plays political games to advance his career.
It's time for McCarthy to go, but defeating him will take a whole lot of grassroots support from across California and the rest of the country.
I need a boost from you today -- 16 donations from your area before midnight -- to send a strong message to McCarthy that his time is up. If you can, please chip in $3 today.
