John, the latest news from Laredo shows the importance of a representative who will stand up for us and our health.
Earlier this month, Laredo Morning Times reported that ProPublica’s new detailed map of cancer-causing industrial air pollution put Laredo as one of the cities in Texas with a higher risk of industrial cancer. This is unacceptable.
The current leadership in Congress hasn’t done enough to stand up to corporations who are poisoning our communities. Instead of standing up to corporations for knowingly harming our communities through their pollution, Henry Cuellar is taking thousands in donations from corporate donors. We deserve far better than this.
As TX-28’s next representative, you can count on Jessica to stand up to corporations harming South Texas communities. But to get Jessica to Congress, we have to hit every goal we set. While the news from Laredo is heartbreaking, there is still hope. We must take bold, unapologetic action now to hold corporations accountable for polluting the air we breathe and take steps toward combating climate change.
Currently, the House is considering President Biden’s Build Back Better bill, which will allow us to make the critical investments we need to clean up our air and address climate change. But our representative, Henry Cuellar, has repeatedly stood in the way of the package passing.
We can’t rely on Cuellar to stand up for us. So let’s show him that our communities are no longer accepting his inaction. We’re ready to replace him with Jessica Cisneros, who has proven she's not afraid to stand up for our communities to address the most pressing issues we’re facing because we can’t afford to wait any longer.
