Dear John

I’m Karin, and I work for Burma Campaign UK and for our sister charity, Advance Myanmar.

I’m writing to you because we are running out of money to pay for safe houses for Burmese activists who are evading arrest, torture and jail.

I’m so concerned that we won’t be able to keep helping activists stay safe that I’m doing a sponsored run to try to raise money to keep helping them. Will you sponsor me?
Since the military coup, Advance Myanmar has been helping activists stay safe, providing money for safe houses and living expenses. We have helped activists and journalists escape the country, and provided food for tens of thousands of villagers who have fled their homes after jets bombed their villages. We have provided food and medicine to political prisoners, and emergency aid for the Covid pandemic.

I have been so inspired to work with activists in Burma who risking everything to resist military rule. Their bravery is incredible. I have been so proud that Advance Myanmar has been there for them. It has really made a difference.

But unless we can raise more money, we won’t be able to keep helping them.
I’m doing a 10 kilometre sponsored run on the 21st November to make sure we can keep providing support: https://www.gofundme.com/f/10k-for-advance-myanmar

Please sponsor me today.

Karin

PS: We have just received an urgent request for money for food for villagers in Karen state who had to flee their homes because of the Burmese military. They have no food, no shelter, no support. Children are sleeping in the open jungle. We had to say sorry, but we can’t help this time, we don’t have funds left. Please help make sure we don’t have to say no again when people come to us for help.
