DEAR FRIENDS,
Today, Saturday, November 13, 2021, some of SHARK's work will be featured in Big Cat Rescue's docuseries Carole Baskin's Cage Fight on Discovery+. Over the past several years, SHARK has been investigating and documenting the horrid conditions of the animals in the care of Joe Exotic and then later, Jeff and Lauren Lowe.

Carole Baskin's Cage Fight docuseries will document the investigation into the treatment of animals at the Lowe Zoo. Said Baskin: “This is a unique opportunity for audiences to come behind the scenes with us for an unfiltered look at how we expose the cub-petting exploiters and roadside zoos we feel are mistreating animals. This is our real-life work within a dangerous world, and viewers will see it comes with our people being threatened, guns pointed at us and the bad guys shooting at our drones.” See the trailer here.
This docuseries will highlight the desperate need for the passage of The Big Cat Public Safety Act. This is a federal bill that would address two of the biggest sources of abuse of big cats by ending owning big cats as pets and stopping exploitative roadside zoos from offering cub petting and photo ops. Big cats purchased as pets are dangerous and typically end up living in inhumane conditions. Cubs used for petting and photos are ripped from their mothers at birth, physically punished to diminish their natural behaviors, deprived of sleep, then often discarded a few months later when they are two big to pet, with no tracking of what happens to them or how many die. This morning The Ironton Tribune covered the attack of SHARK President Steve Hindi and investigator Adam Fahnestock on January 3, 2021, by James Newcomb and Shannon Clark. On Wednesday, November 10, James Newcomb was sentenced to 4 - 6 years in prison. Read article here.
The trial date for Shannon Clark will be November 29 - 30, 2021. We will update you then.
Yesterday, Cincinnati WKRC aired Chief Investigative Reporter Duane

SHARK's petition to stop illegal cockfighting in Kentucky is growing slowly. The suffering roosters being killed at cockfights deserve the same protection as other animals. Please sign and share this petition far and wide.

When you donate to SHARK, your money goes to our highly effective and grueling investigations nationwide - not for fundraising or exorbitant executive salaries. Our volunteer President Steve Hindi has never paid while literally risking his life for the animals along with our other investigators.
