In case you missed it, California's Redistricting Commission just released the first draft of their new congressional maps for the next decade. As drawn, my district could see up to a four-point shift toward Republicans. We'll have more registered Republicans in my district than years past.

History tells us that next year's midterm election was already going to be tough for Democrats. Add in these new district lines and there's no doubt 2022 will be my toughest election yet.

Outreach efforts are already underway, John, but we need to redouble our efforts. So we set an emergency goal of raising $25,000 to respond to this news. That’s why I need to ask:

John, I have no doubt we will earn the support of new voters in our community -- including Republicans.

At the end of the day, we all want the same things: A stronger, more equitable economy, quality health care that we can afford, protection for our air and oceans, and compassion for our veterans.
