Hi John,

Our Supreme Court should be a panel of independent, ethical justices who interpret the law without favor to private political and economic interests.

Unfortunately, the dark money interests have captured our courts, including the Supreme Court.. Supreme Court justices are refusing to recuse themselves from cases where they have financial interests that could influence their decisions, and some even attend conferences at swanky resorts where they are wined and dined by the very interests with matters pending in their courts.

It’s appalling that justices on the Supreme Court are not bound to follow a Code of Ethics. That’s why Congressman Hank Johnson has introduced legislation requiring the establishment of a code of ethics for Supreme Court justices to follow. All other judges are required to follow a code of conduct. So why not the Supreme Court?

This is a common sense measure that should have an easy time making its way through Congress, but it’s already receiving pushback from Republicans who are thinking about conservative justices they may want to install onto the court when a seat opens up.

Do you think our Supreme Court should have a code of ethics?

YES

UNSURE

We can’t expect or enforce ethical behavior by Supreme Court justices without an actual code of ethics to refer to. That’s why this legislation is crucial for the future of law in this country.

Thank you,

Alyssa Milano
