Dear LULAC Family,

This is it. We are almost done with our Freedom Walks, at each stop our young adults and collegiate students were involved and I am positive we can take it above and beyond. Let me share with you why, Stephanie, a 21-year old young adult LULAC member from Sam Houston State University Council #4284 walked. She walked to engage our community to unite and create a better future together. As a registered voter, she is now leading a walk to encourage our community to organize, mobilize and vote! She is building a strong network with local organizations and diverse communities to walk to the polls in all elections and in particular for the Presidential Elections in 2020. Will you now join her and walk too?

Look, the reality is that our organization has more than 1,000 active young adult voices and we are ready to take action. Aren’t WE? You see, the Freedom Walks in Texas was just the seed we needed to take a bold stand towards the betterment of our communities. Now, can you join us in leading a Freedom Walk in your community? Can you plan the seed in your local communities like Stephanie is doing?

Read the toolkit, register your walk and let’s join the movement of #WeWalkWeVote in all current and future elections.

Freedom Walks

About Freedom Walks for Justice

The Freedom Walks for Justice is a national campaign being led by LULAC. Following the example by the Freedom Riders, LULAC is organizing local and national leaders to walk in unity across 14 different cities in eight states across the U.S. and the District of Columbia from October 15 - November 4, 2019. The Freedom Walk campaign includes marches, rallies and community events, aimed at mobilizing communities across the country to register to vote and vote in 2020. The first Freedom Walks will start on the U.S.-Mexico border city of Brownsville, Texas, and Corpus Christi, Texas, LULAC’s birthplace in 1929, and end in Washington, D.C. on November 4, 2019 - a little less than a year out of Election Day 2020.
