Dear Friend, |
Forcing the federal government to act can be a monumental task. As Earthjustice supporters know, it can take years, hundreds of thousands of letters, and administration changes to chart a new course of action. |
But even once advocates have succeeded in getting the government to commit to change, it still takes time and effort. For example, the Biden administration committed to restoring the Endangered Species Act, National Environmental Policy Act, and our methane regulations. This is all great news! But behind that news lies multiple months-long processes to actually implement the changes. |
These processes include public comment periods, listening sessions, and thorough analyses of changes — which are all vitally important. When the government is being influenced by polluters, this process gives us time to check the government’s work and hold them accountable. Unfortunately, polluters do the same when we win protections — and will spare no expense to find legal loopholes allowing them to continue to profit from weak regulations. |
The best way to counter this is to have everyday people like you hold the government accountable by staying engaged. We need to be there, in every comment period on every issue, reminding the government that we’re not going to let them water down proposals after the fact in favor of polluters. We’re counting on you to keep pressing for progress on the issues you care about, even when they're not in the headlines, to ensure that the change we demand is implemented. |
The issues below need your voice. Click here to take all of the actions on one page. |
