** CALL TO ACTION
------------------------------------------------------------

Your comments are needed before November 29, 2021, in support of the Proposed Rule for DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals). The a4a Immigration Team strongly supports the proposed rule by the Department of Homeland Security. Preventing deportation, even for a limited time, gives clarity and security to both DACA and their families.

We support the proposed rule because it will:
1. Correct any legal concerns with the 2012 memo and the 1/20/21 memorandum that established and fortified DACA.
2. Prevent deportation on a case-by-case basis for a specified time.
3. Give certainty to DACA holders and family members to pursue productive lives in the U.S.
4. Acknowledge that DACA holders did not intend to break the law by entering the US as children.
5. Lessen DACA families’ dependent on social services if parents are deported.
6. Reduce the cost to DACA holders who don’t need a work authorization by separating the applications for either.
7. Allow the U.S. economy to benefit from their contributions by:

* Paying Taxes: $5.6b in federal taxes; $3.1b. in state and local taxes annually per 2020. Contributing significantly to Social Security and Medicare.
* Spending. Ex: 56,000 DACA bought their own homes.
* Working as first responders, health care, doctors, childcare, restaurant employees, US service members, teachers, etc.
* Creating businesses, innovating, researching.
* Giving employers certainty when hiring DACA employees.

8. Reduce enforcement resources employed to deport DACA holders to focus on real security risks.

This rule is a necessary step for the benefit of DACA, the U.S. economy and society until Congress passes immigration reform and establishes a path to citizenship for DACA holders, TPS holders, and essential workers.
