Urge California’s congressional representatives to fund community schools
This year Governor Newsom and the California Legislature allocated $3 billion dollars to help expand existing community schools and establish new community schools.
Now it is time for the federal government to act. The White House and Congress have proposed a historic level of national funding for full-service community schools—$443 million, which is more than a 1,200 percent increase from last year! However, this funding is not yet guaranteed.
Please take a moment to sign this letter, urging our congressional representatives to include $443 million for full-service community schools in their appropriations bill.
Thank you for your support of community schools!
Happy School Psychology Week!
This week we join communities throughout the United States in celebration of National School Psychology Week to highlight the important work school psychologists do to help all students thrive.
School psychologists support students' ability to learn and teachers' ability to teach. They apply expertise in mental health, learning, and behavior, to help children and youth succeed academically, socially, behaviorally, and emotionally.
School psychologists also partner with families, teachers, school administrators, and other professionals to create safe, healthy, and supportive learning environments that strengthen connections between home, school, and the community.
And this year school psychologists are among the countless educators and school workers who have gone above and beyond to meet the needs of our students and our school communities as we continue to navigate the COVID-19 pandemic. Across the state and country, many of our students are facing mental health crises and school psychologists have been on the front lines to support them. We thank you for your incredible dedication to our students!
