Maryland, Virginia And Dc Indivisibles,
The clock is ticking in Congress on voting rights. While we continue to
see a surge in anti-voter laws emerging from state legislatures around the
country, the Senate remains stalled in passing federal legislation. Senate
Republicans have time and again filibustered any move toward a vote, and
we cannot risk more delays while our democracy and our right to vote are
in peril. We need all of our leaders to do everything they can to meet
this moment -- including President Biden.
On Wednesday, November 17, we're mobilizing with People for the American
Way, the Declaration for American Democracy coalition, and other allies to
call on the White House to step up their commitment to voters, and work
with the Senate to secure the votes necessary to pass meaningful voting
rights legislation. Passing federal voting rights legislation is the most
important priority right now, and the Biden administration must do
everything possible to urge the Senate to pass the Freedom to Vote Act,
the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act, and the D.C. statehood bill
-- without the Jim Crow filibuster standing in the way.
