A new UN report has found that the world is ‘way off track’ for reaching our necessary climate goals with carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere hitting a 3 million-year high.
We’re running out of time to pass the Green New Deal and transition to renewable energy. But climate change-denying Republicans, and corporate Democrats backed by fossil fuel money, are standing in the way.
Scientists have determined that, as a world, we need to cut emissions in half over this decade if we want any chance of limiting global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius.
Unfortunately, a UN report analyzing every country's pledge to reduce greenhouse gas emissions found that, compared with 2010 levels, we are actually on course for a 16% increase in emissions by 2030.
The Green New Deal will reduce greenhouse gas emissions and help us avoid the most catastrophic impacts of climate change while also working to fix economic inequality and racial injustice.
