John:
I’m reaching out today to ask you to split a contribution, of any amount you can afford, between my campaign and Senator Dick Durbin’s. [link removed]
But first, let me take a minute to tell you about why I ran for Senate in the first place.
When I was a kid, the company my dad worked for was sold. He lost his job and my family was eventually forced onto public assistance. My brother and I relied on reduced-price meals at our public school and we used food stamps to put dinner on the table -- until they ran out. It was tough, and we probably wouldn’t have made it through without government support.
Those experiences shaped the person I am today, and motivated me to speak up on behalf of families like my own who need a little help to get by. And also to speak out against Republicans who want to slash critical safety net programs that families depend on.
Now, as a U.S. Senator, I know I can do more to ensure we’re making good decisions in Washington that make life better and easier for working families.
I will continue to be an advocate for our working families in Washington -- but in order to do that, I need your help to win my reelection campaign. So, John:
Can I count on you to split a contribution of $5, or whatever you can afford, between my campaign and Senator Dick Durbin’s today? [link removed]
Thank you for your support,
Tammy Duckworth
