Citizens for Schimpf

Friend,

Veterans are often asked, "why did you join the military?" While there are many reasons, there is one reason why we serve—because we believe our friends, family, neighbors, fellow Americans, and country are worth fighting for.

Ultimately, that is why veterans serve.

Our veterans, and also the active servicemen and women, were willing to make the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty to ensure our homeland and the people they left at home were safe and free.

"The willingness with which our young people are likely to serve in any war, no matter how justified, shall be directly proportional to how they perceive the Veterans of earlier wars were treated and appreciated by their nation." — President George Washington

As someone who has taken the oath to preserve and protect our country, said goodbye to my family not knowing if I'd see them again, and was willing to put my life on the line for our country's red, white, and blue, I stand and salute our veterans as we honor our veterans this week and month.

To my fellow Illinoisans, if we want to truly honor our veterans, we need to understand they are willing to give their life to preserve all the United States of America stands for, especially freedom.

To the veterans across Illinois and throughout our country, thank you for your service.

S/F,

Paul Schimpf

Volunteer of the Week

We have lots of great volunteers, but during the week of Veterans Day, I want to highlight another fellow Jarhead.
Thank you to our Elgin Township Director, Eric Stare!
Eric has staffed me at multiple events and is responsible for our strong support in this portion of Kane County. Thank you, Eric, for your hard work, friendship, and service to our country!

In the News

This week I joined WHCO's Real County 97.3 & 1230 to talk about a wide range of issues in Illinois, including veto session and how we have a leadership deficit under JB Pritzker. Listen to my interview on WHCO here!

During the week of Veterans Day, it is also the Marine Corps birthday (November 10). As a Marine Corps veteran, it was an honor to spend time with fellow Marines in Litchfield. We shared stories of our time in the Marines and I explained my commitment to veterans issues if given the honor to serve as your Governor.
