Here’s what’s on deck now that we’ve passed the bipartisan infrastructure bill:
Warren Democrats

After months, and months, and months of negotiations, we’ve finally passed the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.

It’s a great first step to fix our crumbling infrastructure — even Mitch McConnell realized he had to vote for it, which just goes to show how badly we need this legislation. But it’s just that: a first step.

Infrastructure in the 21st century means so much more than roads and bridges. Nowadays, it includes universal child care, so parents can go to work and not worry about their kids while they’re on the clock. It includes tackling the climate crisis, which threatens not only our economy, but the survival of our planet.

And we’ve got to pay for it in a way that starts to un-rig our tax laws, which are slanted to benefit the rich and powerful.

So I’m focused on the next bill we’ve got to pass: the Build Back Better plan. I’m working to make sure it includes big pieces like quality, affordable child care — paid for with a minimum tax on corporations with more than $1 billion in profits, so Amazon can’t get away with paying $0 again. And this bill gives us a chance to take a big swing at solving the climate crisis.

This is how we build a future for all of our kids. I’ll keep up the fight in Washington, but I can’t do it alone.

That’s why, if you’re able to, I’m asking if you can pitch in $3 or whatever makes sense to support our re-election campaign and elect more progressive leaders who share our values. Your support would go a long way towards making the big, structural change we need.

Now, it doesn’t look like we’re going to get any help from the Republicans on our Build Back Better plan, even though it’s overwhelmingly popular.

Lowering prescription drug prices, ensuring universal child care and pre-k, expanding health care, extending the child tax credit, fighting climate change — you name it, the American people want to see it.

But Republicans aren’t willing to lift a finger to help working people. And they’re definitely not willing to make the wealthy and well-connected pay their fair share.

So we need to defeat them. We’ve got to keep organizing our grassroots movement behind progressive candidates who will serve the American people, not themselves or their corporate interests. This is our moment to make Washington work for everyone, but we’ve got to fight for it.

If you can, please consider a donation today to help with our continued work. The type of structural changes we’re talking about don’t happen overnight, but if we fight side by side, we’ll make them happen.

Thanks for being a part of this,

Elizabeth
