Running for Congress is a tall task and I'll be honest, some days can feel tough.

From countering Mike Garcia and other Republicans' smears to fending off attacks from special interest dollars, campaigning for public office can be overwhelming.

But despite every lie from Mike Garcia and every corporate PAC donation he takes, I know running to represent this district will be worth it.

Now, I am going to tell you why I'll never back down from this fight but first, I need to ask you to chip in $5 or whatever amount you're able to right now.

I'm in this race for my daughters, who looked around after the 2016 election and wondered how a man who admitted to assaulting women could be elected president. I'm running because my daughters needed me to step in and make this country better for them and their generation of young girls.

I'm in this race for my mom, who was a single parent after escaping domestic abuse, graduated from community college, and became a nurse only to get sick when she couldn't afford her own insulin. I'm running because healthcare is a fundamental human right and no one deserves to see their loved ones suffer because they can't afford medications to cure their disease.

I'm in it for the students in our public schools, who deserve the best quality education we can give them -- regardless of their zip code -- because education is the MOST practical pathway to building an equitable future. I'm running because the most powerful nation in the world should have the world's BEST public schools.

I'm in it for those of us who believe in reproductive choice, voting rights, housing rights, and equality under the law. I'm running because all these rights are on the line in the 2022 midterms, and we MUST do all that we can to protect them.

I'm in this race because I believe in hope and that a brighter, better, and more equitable America is possible through the grassroots support and contributions of people like you, John.

I'm in this race because I refuse to let my kids, my neighbors, or you down.
