Friend,

Earlier this week Republican leaders stood by silently when Rep. Paul Gosar shared a photoshopped anime video depicting himself violently attacking Joe Biden and killing Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Shortly afterwards, Gosar's sister went on CNN to warn that her brother's behavior was getting more dangerous because "no one holds him accountable".

Last week, Marjorie Taylor Greene called her Republican colleagues who voted for the infrastructure bill "Traitors." One of those colleagues, Rep. Fred Upton, received a death threat after Greene's attack. But Republican leaders failed to hold her accountable.

And, let's be clear: those who continue to repeat and abet the big lie — like Senators Ted Cruz, Josh Hawley and others — are actively undermining the rule of law and our constitution. And Republican leaders have continued to fail to hold them accountable.

Friends, if Mitch McConnell and Kevin McCarthy gain control of the Senate and House leadership in 2022 we can expect this situation to get even worse and it will be a disaster for our country. Click here to call on them to hold their members accountable for their behavior.

Political disagreements are one thing. But glorification of violence, outright lies, and hate mongering are something entirely different. They have no place in our political discourse. And must be called out and denounced.

Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell and his House counterpart, Kevin McCarthy, failed to draw a line in the sand on violence, hate and lies after the January 6 insurrection. They chose instead to embrace Trump's Big Lie and normalize the extreme behavior that goes along with it.

The bottom line is this: We know from first hand experience that when politicians use hateful and violent language, political violence and domestic terrorism rises. Having Mitch McConnell or Kevin McCarthy regain control of the Senate or the House in 2022 would be a disaster for our country.

At this critical moment in our history, saner minds must prevail. Click here if you agree.

Thank you for raising your voice. We are in this together.

Chris
