The Week in Review
Happy Friday!
This week, I spent my time in Arizona. It’s always good to be back in the Fighting Fifth district, spending time with constituents and seeing how I can better represent you all back on Capitol Hill. Read below to learn more about the important happenings of the week:
Democrats Pass Phase One of Socialist Spending Spree
Last Friday night (and early into Saturday morning), the Democrats passed phase one of their Socialist Spending Spree, the so-called “infrastructure” bill. Despite Democrats’ rosy messaging about the bill, I have serious concerns about the harm it will do to our economy. Although they have won this battle, Democrats have further provoked the growing movement of angry, working-class Americans who are tired of the Left’s radical agenda. Celebrating our Veterans
This week, my office celebrated our American heroes by hosting Salute to Veterans, a night of entertainment and respectful ceremony to honor the men and women who fought to defend our country. Countless veterans have selflessly served our country for hundreds of years defending the freedoms we hold so dear. They all served under the same flag, for the same values, and for the same common goal of defending our individual liberties. It was an honor to highlight and pay tribute to their heroic work.
I’d like to give a special thanks to KTAR radio host Mike Broomhead, former U.S. Air Force fighter pilot Captain James Udell, U.S. Air Force Chaplain Captain Nathan Mestler, U.S. Army Command Sergeant Major Rick Kreiberg, the Wilcken Family Singers, the Mesa City Band, Arizona Patriot Guard Riders, and all the vendors who helped make Salute to Veterans possible.
Please enjoy the photos from this moving event.
On Thursday, I participated in the East Valley Veterans Parade. It was wonderful to see so many people come out to celebrate our community’s veterans. I will always be grateful for their service and was humbled to be a part of the celebrations. Check out some photos from the parade below.
Gilbert & Chandler Chamber of Commerce
This week, I joined the Gilbert Chamber of Commerce and the Chandler Chamber of Commerce to discuss Congressional happenings in D.C. that are affecting businesses here in Arizona. We discussed a variety of topics, including the supply chain crisis, Biden’s COVID-19 vaccine mandates, rising inflation, and many other issues. Since the beginning of the pandemic, businesses around the country have taken the brunt of a stifled economy. President Biden has taken it a step further by enforcing unconstitutional vaccine mandates that have destabilized the efforts of businesses trying to get back on track. It is my mission to stop Biden’s blatant overreach. I’ve introduced several bills to prevent the vaccine mandate, including my most recent one to abolish OSHA, the federal agency responsible for enforcing the mandate on private businesses. It is imperative that we keep up the good fight and enforce policies that support the rights and privacy of every American. I’m grateful to both chambers for inviting me to be a part of these conversations. Check out photos from the events below:
Back at the Border
On Tuesday, I visited the Tucson sector of the border. Our border communities are still dealing with the immigration crisis created by the Biden administration, which has done everything but enforce our laws and punish those who cross our border illegally. The Biden administration needs to focus its energies on reinstating the Remain in Mexico program as it has been ordered to do by a court, allowing ICE to enforce immigration law, and working with Congress to close the loopholes that serve as a pull factor for illegal immigration. I know securing our border will always be an uphill battle with Biden and the Far Left, so I will continue visiting the border and checking in with our Border Patrol agents on the latest updates. Check out the video below on my most recent trip to the border and why certain sections of the wall are referred to as “luxury doors” by the cartels.
Interview with Mornings with Maria
Today, I went on Mornings with Maria to discuss the Democrats’ so-called “infrastructure” bill. For months, we’ve discussed how this bill is a trojan horse for Green New Deal policies and Far Left socialist ideals. Unfortunately, it was Republican members, or RINOs (Republicans In Name Only), who surprised America by giving the Democrats enough votes to pass this bill. As I tweeted last Friday, these RINOs are the very reason why the American people have lost trust in Congress. Click below to see my full interview on Mornings with Maria regarding it:
