Hi,

My name is Cindy Axne and I wanted to introduce myself: I am a fifth-generation Iowan, a small business owner, a community activist, a mother, and now Congresswoman for Iowa's 3rd District.

I ran for Congress because my parents instilled in me a deep sense of responsibility. They taught me to speak out and take on important fights, even if they were tough and seemingly unwinnable, and to always do the right thing. Well, that sense of duty brought me here today.

Too many Iowa families are struggling to make ends meet. They’re under- or unemployed. They live in fear of a health emergency under our current system. We all know that a broken leg or even giving birth in a hospital could put us in lifelong debt. That simply isn’t right.
