But less than one year after Evan joined the team, writes Brittany Hunter, the university cut the team in the misguided belief that under Title IX rules, too many men were participating in sports at the school.

Food truck pitmaster fights Farmville’s protectionist laws for right to earn an honest living

Mark Shirley brought his Ole Time Smokehouse food truck to Farmville in 2019, and despite a pandemic, his offerings quickly developed a loyal customer base.

Although Mark steered clear of public streets and rented a parking spot on private property, some brick-and-mortar restaurants complained about his success. The town has since changed its Food Truck Ordinance with rules so onerous, expensive, and unlawful that Mark was forced to move his truck to the outskirts of town. First step to building housing: Restore the right to build

When the Andrews family sought permission to develop 40 homes on their property in Mentor, Ohio, the city denied their zoning request. When they challenged the city’s denial, they found themselves facing a legal standard that allows the government to win almost every time.

The family fought back at the Sixth Circuit—and won. As David Deerson and Angela Erickson write, the court’s decision not only allows the Andrews’ case to advance but represents a major step toward addressing America’s dire need for housing.
