Hi Friend,

Last week, President Biden’s Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act was officially passed by Congress, and I couldn’t be happier about this historic investment in our country’s infrastructure. Of the $1.2 trillion this bill will spend to restore our country’s roads, bridges, pipes, ports, and broadband access, $35 billion will be coming to Texas. As we wait for this generation-defining legislation to hit the President’s desk, I want to break down what this means for our state.

It means shorter, easier days for working folks who commute every morning, or parents who pick their kids up from school every afternoon. Texas has nearly 20,000 miles of highways in desperate need of repair. With funding from President Biden’s infrastructure deal, we’re going to get revitalized roads in every corner of our state -- and more public transportation all across Texas.

It means more opportunities for Texans to do business, pursue a degree, get health care, and stay connected. Right now, 14% of Texas households don’t have an internet connection. This legislation’s $100 million investment in expanding broadband will help level the playing field for that 14% of Texas families -- especially in rural communities.

It means safer communities and a better buffer against extreme weather caused by climate change. Governor Abbott and Texas Republicans failed to protect us from the winter storm that devastated our state. But now, Texans have President Biden to thank for this bill’s historic $3.5 billion national investment in weatherization to help us face the looming threat of more extreme weather events on the horizon.

Texans can have confidence that when Republicans fail to do their jobs, Democrats and the Biden administration have their backs and will deliver on their promises. Friend, this is what it looks like to have strong Democratic leadership -- and this is why we can’t stop working to elect more Democrats to all levels of leadership in our state. Can we count on you to chip in $7 to power our fight to defeat our failed Republican leadership and elect leaders who will put Texans first?

Friend, President Biden’s infrastructure bill is truly a massive achievement. This is going to help create a more equitable, well-connected Texas and make life better for millions of people across our state. But unsurprisingly, Texas Republicans did everything they could to block this. After Governor Abbott and Texas Republicans have continuously set us back by putting profit over people and prioritizing their political agenda over fixing our problems, it took real leadership to make this deal happen -- strong, people-first, Democratic leadership.

We need more of that in Texas. And with just one year till our chance to defeat Greg Abbott, we’ve got a real opportunity to make it happen. Let’s kick that fight into gear.

Thanks for all you do,

Stephani Clark
