We need your help

Dear Friend,

On Monday November 8th, I announced my candidacy for Judge on the 10th District Court of Appeals for the term beginning February 9th, 2023.

In this position, I will be able to continue my efforts to address the deficiencies and inequities in our legal system. I pledge to interpret and apply the laws of Ohio in a fair and impartial manner while maintaining the highest levels of integrity and independence at the 10th District.

As you know, this is not my first campaign. The 10th District Court of Appeals encompass all of Franklin County and its 1.3 million residents. Campaigning in an area of this size is very expensive. That is why we have set a goal of raising $200,000 by the end of this year.

I believe my experience in private practice, as a national mediator and as a five term Ohio lawmaker makes me uniquely qualified for this position.

Some of the work I am most proud of includes playing an integral role on issues such as bail reform, sentencing, wrongful convictions, domestic violence, increasing the number of public defenders, and the elimination of the death penalty for those with severe mental illness.

But having the qualifications to be a Court of Appeals Judge is just half the battle. There’s an election to be won. That’s where your support comes in.

Many of you know I’m an avid baseball fan; having served 17 years on the Board of Trustees for the Columbus Clippers baseball team. As I launch this campaign, the words of baseball immortal Hank Aaron come to mind, “In playing ball, and in life, a person occasionally gets the opportunity to do something great. When that time comes, only two things matter: being prepared to seize the moment and having the courage to take your best swing.”

I believe that this is my best swing, and I hope you will help me seize this moment.

Sincerely
