Pete's Update from the Campaign Trail
Honoring Those Who Put Country First Dear Friend,
As a husband whose wife is an Iraq war veteran who retired from the 148th Fighter Wing as the first female Command Chief in the history of the unit, it is personally an honor and a privilege to ensure Congress supports our troops, veterans, and their families. Today, on Veterans Day, we pause to honor and express our gratitude for all of those who stepped forward to serve our country in the U.S. Armed Forces.
Earlier this week, I championed bipartisan legislation to right a wrong for America’s heroes. Years ago, President Obama signed a bill that placed burdensome enrollment fees on military retirees who signed up for TRICARE health insurance. This was a broken promise to our veterans and a slap in the face to all who served. My legislation will reinstate important health insurance for countless veterans by eliminating or capping enrollment fees for service members who retired before Jan. 1, 2018. Promises made must be promises kept, especially for America’s heroes.
Today, on Veterans Day, please take a moment to reach out to and personally thank a veteran for putting their nation first and defending freedom. To all of the veterans in the 8th congressional district and across our great country – THANK YOU!!
The Hill: Biden Gets Inflation Gut Punch The threat of radical policies has consequences. It’s no wonder our economy is struggling when Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi are recklessly spending trillions after trillions of taxpayer money. Democrats are in complete control of Washington, and our economy is faltering.
Inflation has hit a 30-year high as U.S. consumer prices soared 6.2 percent compared to last year. Finally, there is bipartisan concern about Washington’s irresponsible spending spree. Democrat Sen. Joe Manchin recognizes Biden’s economic mess. “Americans know the inflation tax is real and DC can no longer ignore the economic pain Americans feel every day,” Manchin said.
In the Wake of 2021 Elections A lot of you have reached out to me asking for my thoughts about the Nov. 2 elections in Virginia and around the country. I’m not a political pundit or pollster so I won’t claim to be the expert on what the elections meant. What I will say is, as a member of Congress, I’ll continue listening to you, my constituents, and will never give up my relentless fight for our way of life. A couple of thoughts:
I look forward to continue working with you to ensure a better future for our children and grandchildren.
Have a great week!
Sincerely, Pete Stauber
