Begala: Trump and GOP ‘Death Cult’ Are a ‘Threat to the Nation’

Wednesday on CNN’s The Lead, Democratic strategist Paul Begala declared that former President Donald Trump and what the unhinged Begala called Trump's “death cult” supporters are a “threat to the nation.”

Asked about Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake recently vowing to arrest "OSHA goons" who come to her state "to violate our civil rights" by attempting to enforce the Biden administration's vaccine mandate, Begala replied, “Well, it harkens back to nullification, which led us into the Civil War. Sorry to be so dramatic. A state governor can stop Federal Safety and Health administrators from protecting the health and safety of American citizens is pretty crazy, and she seems to be hinting at force.”

What is really "pretty crazy" is the notion that vaccine mandates are about protecting the health and safety of Americans. In fact, they are about controlling Americans by manufacturing a panic, dividing them into the compliant (vaccinated) and the non-compliant (unvaccinated), and then demonizing the latter as unpatriotic threats to public health.

Begala added, “These folks, some of them are, especially Donald Trump, are a threat to the republic, a threat to the nation. Which means Democrats better get their act together.”

Fact checks: Trump is not a threat to the republic. He is a threat to the Democrats and their lust for power, which is why he still lives in their heads rent-free. It is the Democrats and their subversive, anti-American agenda who are a threat to the republic.

In an article he wrote during the infamous Florida recount controversy vis-a-vis the 2000 presidential election, Begala suggested that a disproportionately large number of Republicans and conservatives were bigots who were highly prone to violence and cruelty. Specifically, he pointed to the solidly red (Republican) counties and states on the electoral map and said: “You see the state where [African American] James Byrd was lynch-dragged behind a pickup truck until his body came apart—it’s red. You see the state where Matthew Shepard was crucified on a split-rail fence for the crime of being gay—it’s red. You see the state where right-wing extremists blew up a federal office building and murdered scores of federal employees—it’s red. The state where an army private who was thought to be gay was bludgeoned to death with a baseball bat, and the state where neo-Nazi skin-heads murdered two African Americans because of their skin color, and the state where Bob Jones University spews its anti-Catholic bigotry: they’re all red too.”
