Human rights lawyer Steven Donziger, who helped win the historic $9.5 billion judgment against Chevron for deliberate pollution of the Ecuadorian Amazon for over two decades, is now serving six months in prison for refusing to turn over his privileged information to Chevron.
Use your voice and tell your representative to sign on to a letter to Attorney General Garland asking him to act immediately to rectify his unjust imprisonment! We need Garland to reclaim control of this case, dismiss the charges, and free Mr. Donziger.
Six members of Congress wrote to Garland’s office in April requesting a thorough review of the circumstances of Mr. Donziger’s prosecution. A new letter from Congress will be sent this month. Please ask your member of Congress to join that effort today.
As Representative Tlaib stated on October 27, the day Donziger reported to federal prison, “They (Chevron) think they’ve found a path for escaping accountability and escaping justice, but they’ve only just awoken the people.”
Please help end the unjust imprisonment of Mr. Donziger!
