Texas’s Six-Week Ban Has Been In Effect for Over Two Months. Is There an End in Sight?

 

 

BY ROXY SZAL | With a lack of Supreme Court action to block the most restrictive abortion ban in history, Texas abortion advocates are looking to a district court for relief.

“Our lawsuit is about fighting for Texans who deserve access to the essential health care they need, without having their medical decisions controlled by politicians, anti-abortion vigilantes, or anyone else,” said plaintiff Amanda Beatriz Williams, executive director of Lilith Fund.

‘Our Job Is Not Done’: Women Veterans in Congress Continue To Help Afghan Refugees

BY MARIEL PADILLA, THE 19TH | Women policymakers and veterans are pressing the Biden administration to protect Afghan refugees, specifically women and children.

“Women have been on the frontlines—and not just in Afghanistan—of promoting democratic values in an important way,” said Rep. Mikie Sherrill. “So if we want to see an Afghanistan that does not look like an Afghanistan of 20 years ago, then supporting women is a critical piece of that … Our job is not done.”
