My name is Mike Durant, and I’m running to be your next U.S. Senator from Alabama. I’m a former Black Hawk pilot, Prisoner of War, a successful business owner, and a Pro-Trump conservative. Most importantly, unlike my opponents, I’m not a Career Politician. I’m a 22-year Army veteran and a father of six. I’ve served our nation before and I’ve got one more tour of duty left - one to serve you in the Senate. Are you ready to join my team?

I’d like to tell you a little bit about my story and how one event has changed my life forever:

In October 1993, I piloted Super Six Four, a Black Hawk Helicopter in the Battle of Mogadishu, Somalia. You might recognize my story from the movie Black Hawk Down. Here’s a photo of the crew of Super Six Four, just one month before the battle of Mogadishu.

On October 3rd, 1993, during Special Operations combat Operation Gothic Serpent in Mogadishu Somalia, my helicopter was hit by an RPG and crashed in the city.

My helicopter was the third one to get shot down. Me and my crew, Ray Frank, Bill Cleveland, and Tommy Field, were all badly injured and fighting for our lives as a violent mob approached.

Witnessing what was about to happen from above, two members of the elite Special Operations unit Delta Force – MSG Gary Gordon and SFC Randy Shughart – who were also part of this mission, volunteered to be inserted to defend us. Vastly outnumbered, they too were eventually overcome by the mob.

They were true American heroes who sacrificed everything. Heroes who knew, unlike Joe Biden, that you don’t leave your brothers behind.

The heroic actions of Gordon and Shughart – who were both posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor – are the reason I am alive today.

I was captured and held as a POW by Somali General Mohamed Farrah Aidid.

I only had one mission while in captivity: survive with honor, and I did so. I was kept in a concrete room, beaten, and shot while held captive. But, I never lost hope that I’d be freed and see my family again. Thankfully, 11 days later, I was released unconditionally.

Now, I’m signing up for one more tour of duty to serve our country and state in the United States Senate.

I see our freedoms at risk. Radical Leftists are threatening every core American ideal and our conservative values. Our nation is under attack, and we need people willing to fight for it again. I can’t sit back any longer. I WILL work tirelessly to defend our great state and our great nation. I WILL commit to making America a freer and more prosperous place. I WILL commit to advancing President Trump’s America First agenda.

I didn’t fight for America and put my life on the line for nothing. I fought for an America that cherishes and defends its freedoms.
