Have we officially met?

You somehow ended up on this email list, probably from a friend or a job or something LGBTQ+-related, but do you really know who Equality Federation is? Well, we think it’s time we got acquainted.

We’re Equality Federation, an advocacy accelerator rooted in social justice, building power in our network of state-based lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+) advocacy organizations.

For the rest of the year, we’re going to share with you more about who we are—as an organization and as a group of individuals committed to LGBTQ+ equality.

To get us started, here’s our origin story. Almost 25 years ago, in 1997, a group of 32 state-based LGBTQ+ advocacy organizations came together to harness their collective knowledge and power. While sitting in rocking chairs at the Highlander Center in Tennessee, these state leaders created the Federation of Statewide Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Political Organizations, with the purpose of creating a network to strategize across state lines.

Since then, Equality Federation has become the leading movement builder, national network, and strategic partner to our 40+ member organizations.
