Folks —
Today, our nation honors military service members and veterans for their commitment and service to our country. To all of you who are serving or have served our great country, thank you for everything you’ve done.
Nevada is home to over 200,000 veterans representing every branch of the military — this is a statistic that makes me enormously proud. For individuals who served in World War II to those who served during peacetime, we’re enormously grateful for your service as you represent what makes our state so great.
Coupled with our gratitude today is the commitment to doing everything we can to ensure that our veterans can live a dignified life after their service to the military. This includes access to affordable health care, mental health services, job security, and a smooth reentry into civilian life.
To me, it’s simple: ensuring a quality life for our veterans is a small repayment for the sacrifice they made in serving our country. That’s exactly what I’ll continue to fight for as Governor.
Let’s take today to express our thanks to the veterans in our lives. Without them, Nevada — and the country as a whole — would not be as secure as they are today.
With immense gratitude,
Steve Sisolak
