This Veterans Day, please join me in recognizing and thanking my fellow veterans for their many sacrifices, made to protect our freedoms and defend our great nation.
As a member of the House Armed Services Committee, I am honored to continue to fight for the benefits our service members and veterans deserve, including increasing access to VA healthcare and affordable housing.
Most recently, Rep. Tony Gonzalez and I introduced a bipartisan bill, the Childcare Expansion for Military Families Act, to improve and increase childcare services for military families. I was also pleased to pass the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) to enhance our national security and keep Americans safe. This bill included a 2.7% pay increase for our service members and provided a basic needs allowance to qualified service members.
There is no greater sacrifice than serving one’s country and our nation would not be the same without the dedication and service of these brave men and women. Thank you for taking a moment today to recognize and thank them for all they do.
