Today I am filled with pride in our Veterans, my father’s memory, and our great appreciation for the sacrifices that have been made by so many for our great country.  


But this year, perhaps more than any other, I am also filled with a sadness that comes from knowing that our government has too often not fulfilled its promises to them. Political leaders, society, and yes — on far too many occasions — the VA, have not come through for our active duty service members and our Veterans. They have failed those that have never, ever, failed us.


Indeed it is impossible to point to any battle, any war, any effort to assist or rebuild a nation, where our soldiers were the cause of falling short. Politicians have to live with that. But not our Veterans.  

 
So, today, we thank you. We thank you for never faltering and never failing our country. 


May God bless you, and keep you and your family in his care. I am deeply grateful for your service.
