John, today, we honor the service and sacrifice of our veterans and servicemembers, who put their lives on the line to protect our freedoms.
Veterans Day always makes me think about my own dad. He enlisted in the U.S. Army during World War II and was set to be stationed in North Africa. But the Army decided they needed him here at home working with converted factories manufacturing important supplies the U.S. needed like ammunition.
He was part of our greatest generation that signed up to serve and inspired future generations of servicemembers to do whatever their country needed in some of our hardest moments — through moments of war and peace.
Please, take this day to thank a family member, friend, or neighbor who has served. You can also show your thanks by volunteering through the Department of Veterans Affairs ([link removed]) or a local veterans’ organization, or making a donation to a group that supports veterans.
While we honor their service and commitment today, we must fight every day to ensure that we are doing all we can to care for our veterans and their loved ones. We owe it to them to ensure they have access to quality health care, transition services, and more — to ensure that they have the tools to succeed when they come home.
If elected as Pennsylvania’s next U.S. Senator, I promise I will do my part every day to make sure veterans get the care, support, and benefits they need and deserve. It’s the least we can do for those who have sacrificed so much. We can do better by our veterans, and I won’t rest until we do.
Thank you, and happy Veterans Day.
With gratitude,
Val
