Today is a very important day for our nation – for those who have served and those who haven’t. It is today that we honor the courageous men and women who took the oath to defend our nation regardless of the cost. As a veteran myself, I have seen acts of incredible bravery and I’ve seen the daily sacrifices our servicemembers and their families make so we can enjoy the great opportunities and freedoms this country offers.
 
Too often we forget that there is a price to be paid for the precious freedoms we take for granted. And we must always remember the courage and sacrifice of those who have risked their lives in defense of this great nation and our way of life.
 
This country knows no shortage of bravery, and I’m proud to represent a district that is full of American patriots and heroes.
 
On this day and every day, let us never forget those who answered the call and came to our nation’s defense when it needed them most.
