Happy Veterans Day, John.
You may not know this, but I come from a long line of veterans who proudly served our country -- my dad was a Master Sergeant in WWII, my brother Gary was a Staff Sergeant who served in Vietnam, and my brother Gian was a Colonel who served two tours in Iraq.
I'm proud of the contributions they made to our country and their role in keeping us safe so we can enjoy the freedom and opportunity we have.
All too often, I've heard stories of service members and veterans who struggle with the transition back to civilian life. They need increased support for dealing with PTSD, mental and other health issues, job placement, and housing.
No veteran should come home and have to fight for housing, health care, or a dignified wage. In Congress, I will fight to ensure we continue to support our service members during and after their time in uniform.
