Dear Friend,

Last week, Senator Mazie Hirono introduced the Fair Day in Court for Kids Act of 2021 ([link removed]) in the United States Congress. This legislation would be a monumental step forward in protecting children facing deportation proceedings. If passed, the law would make sure every unaccompanied child has an attorney for their immigration case and would increase the number of children who are appointed independent Child Advocates. It would also require the government to provide access to counsel for all noncitizens in Customs and Border Protection and ICE facilities, and would reopen proceedings to halt the deportation of children for whom the government had failed to provide counsel.

Help us make the Fair Day in Court for Kids Act a reality. Contact your Representatives and Senators ([link removed]) today and ask them to co-sponsor this child-centered legislation. Here's a brief script you can personalize:

"Hi, My name is _________ and I'm Senator/Representative ___________'s constituent in __________. I'm calling to ask that the Senator/Representative co-sponsor the Fair Day in Court for Kids Act of 2021 which was introduced by Senator Mazie Hirono last week. This important bill will ensure that no child in deportation proceedings has to face the court alone or represent themselves."

Thank you for taking action,
